Playbill Songwriter Series: Will Shishmanian Presents Songs from His Folk Musical Amberland
Now live on Playbill –
Amberland (previously titled The Regulars) is a queer folk musical that follows the story of Mark Howard, a trans-man who is a transplant in a small rural town. The musical explores identity, queerness, and finding chosen family. Shishmanian wrote the music, lyrics, and book for the musical, so you can imagine how personal and introspective the project is to him. In 2022, the first draft of Amberland was performed in concert at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, England. Learn more about the musical at https://www.amberlandmusical.com/.
Joining Shishmanian is Samantha Williams, Achilles Mulkey, and Cartreze Tucker on vocals and Davey Thatcher Maglione on piano. Featured songs include “Golden Glow,” “All I Wanted,” “Right On Track,” and “Finally Ready.”
“All I Wanted” (performed by Achilles Mulkey) is sung by the lead of the show, Mark, who just moved to Amberland to escape his hometown and strained family dynamic. As he navigates his new life, he grapples with how much of his past and his own identity he wants to share, and who he can connect with.

Queering the Canon: Andrew Lloyd Webber, Queering the Canon: Sondheim, and Queering the Canon: Kander & Ebb will showcase canonical tunes performed alongside new original songs written by Ring of Keys songwriters. Performed by Ring of Keys artists to interpret songs through their perspective, this Series seeks to queer the original canon of musical theatre, while highlighting upcoming songwriters who are currently queering our stages and creating a new canon.”

AN INCOMPLETE LIST OF ALL THE THINGS I'M GOING TO MISS WHEN THE WORLD IS NO LONGER
“Following a global announcement of the date and time Earth will be terminated, a community decides the only reasonable thing to do is to gather together. ...When the World is No Longer:, ‘has the windedness of a post-rock song, and its creator is reckoning with some similarly weighty subject matter — death, life after death, experimenting with hallucinogenic drugs — through a mix of dance, song, and dialogue.’ An Incomplete List… invites you into a glance at the last sh*t show ever --through a retrospective of cherished and tragic memories-- to celebrate and mourn the delights and deceptions of the human experience.”
July 23rd and 24th, 9:00pm, The Tank, NYC — Tickets: https://www.theatermania.com/.../an-incomplete-list-of...
